RANDOM REST DAY RAMBLINGS
Our rest day today was in Cluny, a wonderful town for wandering.
|
Cluny is full of wonderful historical sights to tempt the amateur photographer. |

The Fontaine des Serpents in Cluny |
Health: All good, although we have used a few more blister Bandaids.
Food: We have been told that the French typically no longer drink milk coffee for breakfast, as the combination is considered bad for the stomach. They are happy to supply the mad Australians with milk, however.
|
Enjoying breakfast with antique silver, and milk |
Lunch for us is usually a baguette and one of the many cheeses on offer, preferably from the region through which we are walking. Today we had a cooked lunch as we had access to a kitchen and the time to prepare it.
|
Lunch in the kitchen |
Restaurants usually offer a three course set menu, with a choice between two or three dishes. We have paid as little as €13 per person, plus wine.
|
Restaurant dinner |
Accommodation: We have been delighted by our choices and have been shown amazing hospitality.
|
With hosts, Beverley and Clive, at Souvigné, near Ozolles. They both speak excellent English. |
Today's accommodation in Cluny is a 16th century mansion which has been beautifully restored and furnished by the host.
