DAY 16 - FONTAINEBLEAU-AVON TO GREZ-SUR-LOING

Today we left our delightful older daughter in St-Germain-en-Laye, picked up our backpacks and took the train to Fontainebleau-Avon to continue our journey.

The lengths we go to to blog - our delightful older daughter didn't have wifi, so for the past week we made extensive use of the free wifi outside the post office at St-Germain-en-Laye

It was only a couple of kilometres to the castle at Fontainebleau. We walked around the grounds for a while, although we didn't go inside the château.

The Château de Fontainebleau

From the castle we headed southwards through another stretch of the extensive Forest of Fontainebleau. The scenery was similar to yesterday's section of the forest, with another reminder of Australia - Kath picked up a tick on her arm.

Entry to (or in our case exit from) the Forest

Once out of the forest, we had a brief banana stop in the village of Bourron-Marlotte, then continued on to tonight's chambre d'hôte at Grez-sur-Loing.

The medieval bridge at Grez-sur-Loing

This old stone village is very picturesque, and our accommodation is right in the heart of it.

The village church is just outside
