DAY 3 - ÉTAIMPUIS TO ISNEAUVILLE

We have just enjoyed our third day of fine weather in a row to start our trip.  The hosts at the chambre d'hôte where we stayed last night (the Clos des Charmes in Étaimpuis) told us that we were very lucky. Apparently at this time of the year Normandy can be very wet and windy.

Another fine day in Normandy - those socks dried in no time
After another excellent breakfast to start the day we walked along the GR210 to our morning café stop in Clères, a lovely old town set in a valley surrounded by hills.  If you're walking, this means you have to walk upill on the way out.

Our guide is pointing out the white-on-red marker for the GR trail, above the blue and yellow Chemin de St Jacques (Camino) sign. A scallop shell (symbol of the Camino) has been fixed to the top of this sign.
We walked uphill, still on the GR210, for quite a while. The path at this stage took us through woodland, very pleasant with lots of native flowers in bloom. We identified bluebells, daffodils and wood anemones.

We ate our lunch on a log at the side of the path, then continued southwards past Tendos. We walked along roads (the D3 and D66) for a while. Although the route took us through a forest, there was quite a bit of traffic and we were glad to find some off-road paths through the forest to the outskirts of Isneauville.
