DAY 2 - ST-AUBIN-SUR-SCIE TO ÉTAIMPUIS

Today started with a wonderful breakfast. We are mostly staying in chambres d'hôtes (bed and breakfasts) on our trip. We are hoping that a nice filling breakfast will set us up for the day's walking.

A nice filling breakfast
Although we started the day back on the GR210, we spent most of today on quiet country roads (D3, D57, D100) as we had a long distance to cover and staying on the GR210 would have added another 4 or 5 km to today's distance. We ended up walking 34 kilometres through peaceful villages and rural scenery of Upper Normandy.

We stopped after about 10 km at Longueville for the first café stop of the trip.

Deux grands cafés crèmes, s'il vous plaît

Then it was another 10km or so to our lunch stop at Auffay. After a picnic in the park, we continued on via St-Victor-l'Abbaye to tonight's chambre d'hôte near Étaimpuis.

Taking time to smell the flowers
Highlights: the spring flowers everywhere, from tulips in garden beds to banks covered in wildflowers, the bell figures that struck 2pm just as we came into Auffay and the local pear cider we drank for supper.

Distance:  34.02km
Walking time:  6hrs 34mins
